BMW and its M division in the late 90’s had one goal with the E36 M3 Evolution, to create a daily performance car without compromise. If you have been lucky enough to drive one, you would probably agree they did a pretty good job. A 6-speed manual mated to a 3.2 straight six with individual throttle bodies offered impressive performance for its era and even for today. 321BHP allowed the M3 Evo to do a 0-60 of just 5.5 seconds and pull consistently all the way up to its 155mph electronic limiter, all housed in a superb chassis. In comparison to the coupe production number of nearly 3,000, it is reported that somewhere between 700 and 950 saloons were produced making them substantially rarer.

This astonishing, low mileage example has been with its current collection since 2021, prior to that it formed part of a BMW specific collection where it had resided since 2014. Originally purchased in 1998 at Sytner BMW Oldbury, it was used initially on a regular basis, but by 2006 it was already being used sparingly, only picking up a couple of thousand miles here and a few hundred there. During the period it was used, it was meticulously maintained and serviced by Rybrook and Cotswold BMW. Since 2014 the car has driven less than 200 miles, stored covered and trickle charged. It has had wheel refurbishment and a set of continental tyres in current ownership. All aspects of the car are in outstanding unrestored condition. The Avus Blue paintwork pops a gorgeous purple in the right sunlight with straight panels and no real imperfections to report. The underside and its components keep their original paint and rust protection. The Nappa leather interior combined with that signature black headlining looks the part for a high end 90’s car and of course that engine bay still looks like a proper motorsport derived 6-pot. This car is for the decerning BMW collector and enthusiast.

The sale includes two keys, V5C showing 3 previous owners and a whole host of history. This includes all of the E36 marketing literature from 1998 including price and options lists, M sport pamphlets and folders with manuals. The service book is stamped with receipts to back up work carried out Rybrook and Cotswold BMW.
