In the early 00’s, led by Triple Eight Racing, Vauxhall cleaned up for four years straight in the British Touring Car Championship taking driver, manufacturer and team title from 2001-2004. In 2001 they almost took a clean sweep winning 25/26 races. As a result, the Astra Coupe became one of the most successful touring cars ever in the BTCC. Some of the greatest drivers ever to sit in touring cars piloted the Coupe including Jason Plato, James Thompson and Yvan Muller. Triple Eight Racing celebrated their epic 2001 by producing a limited run of just 100 cars for the road re-engineered in house. Changes included a blue and black interior with Sparco seats. The exterior sported a fantastic BTCC inspired body kit with all cars painted in Europa Blue Pearlescent. Handling was improved with stiffer and low suspension as well as a stainless steel Milltek exhaust system and VXR brakes.

Much of this car’s unique limited run parts remain with the original O.Z wheels included in the sale for the right price. The car is currently fitted with Team Dynamics wheels which are also quite fitting for its motorsport background. Despite decent performance data from the factory which would have been a 0-60 of 7-seconds and north of 150mph, this car has had a number of enhancements. An RND Motorsport engine build brings the car up to around 290bhp with supporting mods such as uprated KO6 turbo. It has also been converted to 6 speed transmission with triple plate clutch and lightweight flywheel. Full engine spec upon request. Recent work on the car has included new subframe, steering rack, engine mounts, front dampers and other items.

Build number 82’s condition is far better than its mileage may suggest and it has clearly been looked after and cherished by 7 previous owners as a limited run car. The interior only has minor wear with the exterior presenting extremely well with very few imperfections. We think this car offers a great package for its current value with early 00’s cars currently on the increase. You are getting a very rare car of which you will not see another when you attend a local show or cars and coffee. But it has also been enhanced to make use of some pretty impressive performance as and when you need it.

The sale includes an original Vauxhall wallet with information on the 888 edition and a service book stamped up until 97,000 miles at which point an owner was doing their own maintenance.  As a result, there are also many parts receipts including engine build, old MOT’s, V5’s and other documents. Currently the car locks with the key in the door rather than using the remote and the electric mirrors are sometimes intermittent. The AC has also been removed to fit the larger intercooler.
