1969 Ford Escort Mk1 Duratec
Reg: PFJ 208G
Mileage: 352miles
Transmission: Manual
Price: £55,000 Ono
In 2021 this gorgeous type 48 Mk1 Escort was imported from South Africa by the current owner as a completely standard 2-door. He specifically chose this car as it was rot free and had never had any welding done. Over the following years the car was stripped to a bare shell and built into the weekend toy you see before you, using an incredible number of new parts, time and sweat. The shell was painted in Signal Yellow with extra care taken on future proofing the underside with Raptor Epoxy Primer, two coats of 3M underbody sealer and two coats of 2K paint. Since it was built the car has only covered 352miles going for weekend drives and local events, dry stored when not in use.
Having covered so few miles since rebuild the whole car is in very good condition throughout. As well as a bare metal respray for the shell, a 2.5 Duratec was also rebuilt and fitted with iTB’s on standalone management producing 214bhp. More than enough for a sub 1000kg RWD road car. A 6-speed MX5 gearbox was also reconditioned and fitted. The owner wanted a car you could turn the key and go, hence its specification. Having assembled the project himself and being quite particular, even the engine bay looks clean with all wiring hidden away where possible. An absolute joy to drive on UK B roads, full of engagement and ready to use. An ideal modern take on the Mk1.
