1954 JCX Sports Racing Car
Price: £2,750 Offers Over
Location: Chippenham, Wiltshire
The late Ryan Hodges dedicated his life to restoring, rebuilding and replicating sports racing cars. Three part finished chassis’ remained in his workshop that are to be sold from his estate including this one. It has been an interesting investigation trying to find out what it is, but a post was recently found on FISCAR introducing Ryan as a new member and a bit about the project, which he purchased in 2019. It is described as a 1954 JCX sports racing car from Belgium that was imported into the Uk in 1957. The car would be suitable for historic racing but it appears it is road registered, paperwork to be found.
The chassis itself is 75% complete with a hand formed alloy body wrapping around it. The front suspension is present and appears to have similarities with Porsche and Volkswagen setups of that era, A set of steel VW/Porsche wheels are also include with a hub to work from, although a set of staggered Route Borrani wire wheels can be included in the sale. A gearbox is also mounted and a rear diff and drum brakes are also present. An Alfa Romeo twin cam engine (AR1315) is currently sat in the chassis minus sump but there is also a large selection of other twin cam parts that can be included in the sale such as cams, heads, blocks, sumps, manifolds and other parts. It seems as though the car had this engine in period but with various displacements hence the selection of pistons and other bits. This will be a very beautiful car for anyone who takes it on and finishes it off.
